FTC 3650 Limited Liability is a school-based team at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, founded in
2009. We are a ~10 student team (grades 9–12) led primarily by students with faculty mentorship.

How we operate
Day-to-day work is student-led: mechanical, CAD, programming, and testing are done by students with
faculty oversight. We design and build all robot systems in-house, track iterations in internal
documentation, and prioritize reliability.
Engineering focus
Autonomous performance and repeatability
SolidWorks CAD and custom chassis designs
Java programming in Android Studio
Simulation with a trajectory model to optimize projectile angles
Full-field driver practice and structured testing
FTC
What is FIRST Tech Challenge?
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics program where student teams design, build, and program a robot for
a new game each season. Teams compete at local league meets and are evaluated on engineering process and
robot performance.
Engineering cycle
Students iterate through design, build, programming, and testing on a fixed seasonal timeline.
Competition structure
Teams qualify through local league meets and are scored on match performance and technical review.
Outreach
Outreach is part of FTC expectations; for our team, it is an active area of growth.
Team scale
Teams are student-run with adult mentorship, emphasizing safe and repeatable engineering practices.
